HOSPICE & PALLIATIVE CARE OF CAPE COD ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF PURCHASE OF HOSPICE OF BOSTON & GREATER BROCKTON
HYANNIS – JUNE 9, 2010 – Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod (“H&PCCC”) is pleased to announce that Hospice of Boston & Greater Brockton (“HOB”) has officially become a program of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod. The transaction between the two non-profit organizations, which began in late March, was recently approved by the State Attorney General’s Office and completed last week. As a program of H&PCCC, HOB will continue to provide hospice services throughout Plymouth, Bristol, Norfolk and Suffolk counties. The program will operate from its new headquarters, located at 1324 Belmont Street in Brockton, supported by H&PCCC’s Hyannis-based infrastructure and administrative personnel. A community Open House will be announced following completion of office renovations at the new location.
The management and staff of HOB and H&PCCC are committed to ensuring a seamless transition for patients and families, with continuity of care and service being top priorities. To this end, employment was extended to all HOB employees, allowing HOB patients and families to continue to be cared for by their existing hospice team members -- including their nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers. In keeping with its long-standing, local reputation for delivery of quality care, HOB will retain its brand identity and name, building upon its valued relationships with physicians, hospitals, long-term care, assisted living and home health agency personnel, vendors and community agencies. The HOB clinical team will be supported by H&PCCC’s Medical Director, Dr. Kristin Keefe and newly hired marketing staff will focus on increased outreach, community education, and collaboration with other healthcare providers.
Through its Open Door approach, H&PCCC reaches out to all who are eligible for and entitled to the full range of hospice services, regardless of complexity of care or ability to pay. The approach simplifies admission criteria, enabling patients to receive services earlier and optimize their quality of life, without foregoing any types of treatment that may be beneficial to them. David Rehm, CEO of H&PCCC says “We are excited to extend our Open Door philosophy to HOB’s communities, building upon HOB’s thirty years of dedicated service, and enabling many more to receive our care.”
