The Grief Support & Referral Center

 

Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod is dedicated to providing grief support, education, and resources to all residents of Cape Cod. Our services exist to accommodate people of all ages who are faced with the distress of a life threatening disease or death of a loved one through illness, suicide, accident or violent crime.

Our licensed staff has special expertise in helping people understand the challenges of the grieving process over time.

Individual/Family Bereavement Counseling

Our professional staff provides individual and family counseling  to  people of all ages who need help coping with the death of a loved one or who are struggling with the effects of chronic or life-threatening illness or other losses. Counseling visits take place at our offices in Hyannis and Falmouth and in the homes of individuals who are not be able to travel to our offices. Hospice family members are eligible to receive up to three visits at no cost.  For individuals in the community, most insurances accepted; no one turned away if unable to pay.

Bereavement Support Groups for Adults

Groups provide an opportunity for education, sharing and mutual support. To learn more or to register for a group, please call Laura Nickerson at 508-957-0266.

 

Adult Living Through Grief Support Group - For grieving adults who have experienced the death of loved one. Meets weekly in Hyannis on Wednesdays, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. and in Falmouth on Thursdays, from 12 -1:30 pm.

 

Reunion Group- A group for adults who continue to need support after one year of participation in other bereavement groups. Meets once a month.

 

Young and Widowed A support group for women who are 50 years old and younger and who have lost a spouse. This group addresses the unique issues of the younger widowed person. The group meets for six consecutive weeks and is offered four times a year.

   

Me and My Shadow This support group is for adults who have experienced the death of a sibling. The group meets for 6 consecutive weeks for 1 1/2 hours and is offered four times a year.

 

 Adult Orphans - A group for adults who have experienced the death of a parent within the last 18 months. The group meets for 6 weeks for 1 ½ hours and is offered four times a year.

Living with a life-threatening illness - Kids Grieve Too!® We also provides support to families and kids who have a family member with a terminal illness. This may involve regular office visits and, in the care of very small children, visits to the home. We are committed to helping families support their youngest members through the journey of serious illness.

             School Services -We facilitate grief groups and in-service presentations in schools.
          Both can be arranged any time and are provide on a fee-for-service basis.

          on many topics related to loss and grief

 Understanding the Cycle of Grief
 Being a Supportive Friend/Co worker at the of Loss

Other workshops and trainings can be customized to the needs of the organization.

 

          Fees-In accordance with hospice policy, no one is turned away based on inability to pay.
